If you have a question that is not covered here, please contact us — we’re always happy to help.

General Questions

1. Where can I find Sun Chaser eBikes?

Sun Chaser eBikes is based in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast.

We operate by appointment so we can give each customer proper time, advice, and support. This also allows us to keep overheads lower and offer better value e-bikes without compromising on quality.

If you would like to view or test ride a bike, please contact us first to arrange a suitable time.

You can also find selected Sun Chaser models through our authorised retail partners.

2. Can I visit without an appointment?

Please contact us before visiting.

Because we operate by appointment, we are not always available for walk-ins. Booking ahead ensures we can have the right bikes ready and give you proper one-on-one support.

Test Rides

3. Can I test ride a Sun Chaser e-bike?

Yes. Test rides are available by appointment at our Burleigh Waters location or through selected authorised retailers.

A test ride is the best way to compare models, check comfort, understand the riding position, and feel the difference between bikes such as the Alpha V2, Nova V2, Troopy range, and ADO folding models.

If you are unsure which model suits you, we can help narrow it down before your appointment.

4. Why should I book a test ride?

E-bikes can look similar online, but they often feel very different in person.

A test ride helps you check:

  • Riding position
  • Comfort
  • Frame style
  • Step-through vs top-bar design
  • Motor feel
  • Braking
  • Stability
  • Suitability for carrying kids or accessories
  • Overall confidence on the bike

For many customers, the right choice becomes much clearer after riding two or three models side by side.

Warranty

5. What warranty do Sun Chaser e-bikes come with?

Sun Chaser eBikes provides warranty support across the main components of the bike.

As a general guide:

  • 24 months: frame and selected structural components
  • 12 months: battery, motor, display, controller, brakes, lights, wiring harness, throttle and key electrical parts
  • 6 months: accessories

Warranty coverage depends on the issue, the part involved, and how the bike has been used and maintained.

For full details, please refer to our Warranty Page or contact us if you are unsure.

6. What should I do if I have a warranty issue?

Please contact us with:

  • Your order number or purchase name
  • The bike model
  • A short description of the issue
  • Photos or a short video if possible

We will review the issue and guide you through the next step.

Our approach is simple: we want to understand the problem properly and help resolve it as quickly and fairly as possible.

Motors and Components

7. Why do Sun Chaser e-bikes use Bafang motors?

We use Bafang motors because they are widely used, reliable, proven, and well supported in the e-bike industry.

For customers, this matters because Bafang systems offer:

  • Strong everyday performance
  • Smooth pedal assistance
  • Good hill-climbing support
  • Reliable parts availability
  • Easier servicing and replacement options
  • Proven use across many e-bike brands worldwide

We choose components based on real-world reliability, not just spec-sheet numbers.

8. Do Sun Chaser e-bikes use quality batteries?

Yes. Many of our models use Samsung-cell lithium batteries, selected for reliable everyday performance.

Battery size and range vary by model. Real-world range depends on rider weight, terrain, tyre pressure, assist level, wind, hills, load, and throttle use.

We prefer to give realistic guidance rather than exaggerated range claims.

Regulations

9. What are the regulations for riding e-bikes in Australia?

E-bike rules vary slightly by state and territory, but the general public-road standard in Australia is based around pedal-assist e-bikes with:

  • Maximum continuous motor output of 250W
  • Motor assistance cutting out at 25 km/h
  • Pedals as the main source of power
  • Throttle or motor assistance without pedalling limited to low-speed walk-assist use, generally up to 6 km/h

Some bikes may have higher-power settings intended for private property use only. If using an e-bike on public roads, paths, or public areas, the bike must be used in the compliant setting for your state or territory.

Please check your local regulations before riding.

10. Are throttles legal on e-bikes?

Throttle rules can be confusing.

For public-road use, throttle operation is generally restricted. In Queensland, a legal e-bike can have a motor that works without pedalling only up to 6 km/h.

Higher-speed throttle use is generally not allowed on public roads or paths and should only be used on private property where permitted.

If you are unsure, contact us and we can explain the difference between compliant road use and private-property settings.

11. Do I need a licence or registration for an e-bike?

For a compliant e-bike that meets the relevant public-road rules, you generally do not need a licence or registration.

However, if an e-bike exceeds the legal power or speed limits for public use, it may no longer be treated as a bicycle.

Because rules and enforcement can change, we recommend checking the regulations in your state or territory before riding.

Maintenance

12. How do I maintain my e-bike?

Regular maintenance helps keep your e-bike safe, smooth, and reliable.

We recommend checking:

  • Tyre pressure
  • Brake performance
  • Chain lubrication
  • Bolt tightness
  • Spoke tension
  • Lights
  • Battery charge level
  • Charger condition
  • Tyre wear
  • Brake pad wear

If you ride near the coast, it is also important to keep the bike clean and dry where possible. Salt air can be harsh on bikes, so regular cleaning and lubrication will help protect components.

13. How often should I service my e-bike?

As a general guide, we recommend servicing your e-bike every 6 to 12 months, depending on use.

If you ride regularly, carry kids, ride in wet or coastal conditions, or use the bike heavily, more frequent servicing may be needed.

A first check-up after the bike has settled in is also a good idea, especially for brakes, gears, spokes, and general bolt tension.

14. Can any bike shop service my Sun Chaser e-bike?

Most standard bicycle parts can be serviced by a regular bike shop, including:

  • Brakes
  • Tyres
  • Tubes
  • Chains
  • Gears
  • Spokes
  • Wheels
  • General adjustments

For electrical components such as batteries, displays, controllers, wiring, and motors, please contact us first so we can guide you properly.

Spare Parts and Accessories

15. Where can I buy spare parts for my Sun Chaser e-bike?

You can purchase selected spare parts and accessories directly from our website.

If the part you need is not listed online, please contact us. We may still have it available or be able to source it for you.

We aim to support our customers beyond the initial purchase, including parts, troubleshooting, and practical advice.

16. Do you sell accessories?

Yes. We offer a range of accessories depending on the model, including items such as:

  • Locks
  • Surf racks
  • Child seats
  • Mirrors
  • Baskets
  • Tyres
  • Chargers
  • Phone holders
  • Other selected parts and accessories

Compatibility can vary between models, so please contact us if you are unsure which accessory suits your bike.

Choosing the Right E-bike

17. Which Sun Chaser e-bike is right for me?

The best model depends on how you plan to use it.

As a general guide:

  • Alpha V2: premium top-bar everyday e-bike with strong performance and comfort
  • Nova V2: step-through version with strong performance and easier access
  • Pulse: relaxed cruiser-style e-bike for comfortable everyday riding
  • Troopy S / Troopy Z: practical family and utility-style models
  • ADO folding range: lightweight, foldable and car-boot friendly, ideal for caravans, boats, apartments, uni students and travel

If you are unsure, contact us with your height, intended use, riding area, and whether you plan to carry kids or accessories. We can help narrow it down.

18. Can I carry a child on a Sun Chaser e-bike?

Some models are suitable for child seat setups, depending on the child’s age, size, seat type, and bike model.

Please contact us before purchasing a child seat or family setup so we can recommend the safest and most practical option for your bike.
