Sun Chaser eBikes FAQ
Answers before you book a test ride, choose a bike or order parts
Practical answers from our Gold Coast team about test rides, warranty, Australian e-bike rules, servicing, spare parts and choosing the right setup for everyday riding.
General
Where can I find Sun Chaser eBikes?
Sun Chaser eBikes is based in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast. We operate by appointment so we can give each customer proper time, have suitable bikes ready and keep the advice practical.
You can also find selected Sun Chaser models through authorised retail partners.
Can I visit without an appointment?
Please contact us before visiting. We are not always available for walk-ins, and booking ahead means we can prepare the right bikes or parts before you arrive.
Test rides
Can I test ride a Sun Chaser e-bike?
Yes. Test rides are available by appointment at our Burleigh Waters location or through selected authorised retailers.
A test ride is the best way to compare comfort, riding position, motor feel, braking and how confident you feel on the bike.
Why should I book a test ride before choosing?
E-bikes can look similar online but feel very different in person. A short ride helps you check frame style, stability, step-through access, carrying options and whether the bike suits your height and use.
Warranty
What warranty do Sun Chaser e-bikes come with?
Sun Chaser eBikes provides warranty support across the main components of the bike. As a general guide:
- 24 months: frame and selected structural components
- 12 months: battery, motor, display, controller, brakes, lights, wiring harness and key electrical parts
- 6 months: accessories
Coverage depends on the issue, the part involved, and how the bike has been used and maintained. For full details, see our Warranty Page.
What should I do if I have a warranty issue?
Contact us with your order number or purchase name, the bike model, a clear description of the issue, and photos or a short video if possible. We will review the problem and guide you through the next step.
Australian e-bike rules
What are the rules for riding e-bikes in Australia?
Rules vary slightly by state and territory. For public-road use, the common Australian standard is a pedal-assist e-bike with a maximum continuous rated motor output of 250W, assistance cutting out at 25 km/h, and pedals as the main source of power.
Some bikes may include higher-power settings for private-property use only. For roads, paths and public areas, use the compliant setting for your state or territory.
Are throttles legal on e-bikes?
For public-road use, throttle operation is generally restricted. In Queensland, a legal e-bike can have motor assistance without pedalling only up to low-speed walk-assist level, generally 6 km/h.
Higher-speed throttle use is generally not allowed on public roads or paths and should only be used on private property where permitted.
Do I need a licence or registration?
For a compliant e-bike that meets public-road rules, you generally do not need a licence or registration. If a bike exceeds the legal power or speed limits for public use, it may no longer be treated as a bicycle.
Service, maintenance and parts
How often should I service my e-bike?
As a general guide, service your e-bike every 6 to 12 months depending on use. If you ride often, carry kids, ride in wet or coastal conditions, or use the bike heavily, service it more often.
A first check-up after the bike settles in is also worthwhile, especially for brakes, gears, spokes and general bolt tension.
What should I check between services?
Regularly check tyre pressure, brake feel, chain lubrication, bolt tightness, spoke tension, lights, battery charge, charger condition, tyre wear and brake pad wear.
If you ride near the coast, keep the bike clean and dry where possible. Salt air is hard on bikes, so regular cleaning and lubrication helps protect components.
Can any bike shop service my Sun Chaser e-bike?
Most standard bicycle parts can be serviced by a regular bike shop, including brakes, tyres, tubes, chains, gears, spokes, wheels and general adjustments.
For electrical components such as batteries, displays, controllers, wiring and motors, contact us first so we can guide you properly.
Where can I buy spare parts or accessories?
You can buy selected spare parts and accessories directly from our website. If the part you need is not listed, contact us. We may still have it available or be able to source it.
Compatibility can vary between models, especially for child seats, surf racks, batteries, chargers, tyres and brake pads.
Choosing the right e-bike
Which Sun Chaser e-bike is right for me?
The best model depends on your height, riding area, storage space, whether you want step-through access, and whether you plan to carry kids, cargo or accessories.
- Family e-bikes: practical options for child seats, cargo and school runs.
- Folding e-bikes: easier to store, travel with or fit into apartments, caravans and cars.
- Step-through e-bikes: easier access and relaxed everyday riding.
- All e-bikes: compare the full range.
Can I carry a child on a Sun Chaser e-bike?
Some models are suitable for child seat setups, depending on the child’s age and size, the seat type, rack rating and bike model. Contact us before buying a child seat so we can recommend the safest and most practical setup.
Need a straight answer?
Send us your height, riding area and what you want the bike to do.
We can usually narrow the choice down quickly once we know whether you need comfort, folding storage, child-carrying, hill support, parts compatibility or legal-road use.
